VIDEO – THE KING OF CONTENT

Do you create videos for your online content? No? You should!

Video is the king of content. The stats speak for themselves – video-based marketing content demonstrates an excellent ROI.

In 2020, 96% of consumers increased their online video consumption, and 9 out of 10 viewers said that they wanted to see more videos from brands and businesses. In fact, as of 2021,  an average person is predicted to spend 100 minutes per day watching online videos.

However, more often than not these stats are focused on large brands or companies with marketing budgets in the thousands, if not millions, of dollars bracket. How can small to medium-sized companies capitalize on the value of video content without blowing an entire year’s worth of marketing budget on one campaign?

Video is actually easy to create. Anyone with a smartphone that was made after about 2015 will have high enough quality video capabilities. With FREE apps such as Adobe Premiere Rush, Quik App and the native cell phone editors, you can create video content with just your mobile device.

What should you create? That is entirely dependent on your business but it is important that the video content you create is authentic and relevant to your brand. Some examples of successful video content for small businesses include:

  • Going live on your preferred social media channel and giving your customers/audience some behind the scenes insight to your business
  • Creating “how to” videos of using your product or service
  • Answering FAQs

If budget, talent and creative energy within your company allows, you could also look to develop short creative videos – where the only limits are your imagination and creative direction.

However, the most important thing to remember is that consistency is key. Doing one video every 18 months will not lead to an increase in any of your KPIs.
