Building a searchable and scalable tool for Ktunaxa businesses.
When the Ktunaxa Nation Council wanted a directory website to provide a single location where people could view all Ktunaxa owned and operated businesses in one place, birr provided the perfect web development solution.
KNC approached birr for guidance on how to implement this expansive project.
Our recommendation was to build a solution that provided a searchable and scalable database-driven tool allowing each business to present themselves with a search optimized page containing logo, photo gallery, business information, Google Maps location and links to their own website.
Developing the site with a search engine optimization focused approach means that each company is provided with a good web presence, even if they do not have their own website, through the ability to have their own dedicated page on the site. Fundamental SEO work was done to ensure pages are structured properly with image names, titles and content created to allow for high visibility on Google and other search engines.
The website was developed using a bulk editor tool allowing for a database to be uploaded containing all of the data pertaining to each individual business in a single database to create a simple, time-saving data entry process that avoids the requirement to create pages one by one.
birr visited many of the businesses featured on the website and captured professional photography to present them properly and mentored an up and coming Ktunaxa photographer along the way. This initiative was done with the goal of moving the young photographer towards his goal of establishing his own business.
